Summer 2005 Activities
It was a hot one at the CLC this summer! Many local kids and adults were involved in the workshops that the CLC provided. See below for details on the specific worshops / activities.
Showcommotion
Showcommotion was a dance workshop, which gave local young people the opportunity to learn dance routines to popular chart music and songs from musical theatre.
The three day workshop ended with a short performance to friends and family. Everyone involved in the Showcommotion workshop received a DVD of their performance.
Party in the Park
The young people from Rawmarsh City Learning Centre's weekly dance club 'Showcommotion' entertained hundreds of local people in Rosehill Park on Sunday 17th July at the annual gala.
The young people performed dance routines from the stage shows Chicago and Can Can and also popular pop songs. The young people wowed the audience with their intricate dance steps and enthusiasm.
Creative Cards
The digital sewing machines used in this creative workshop gave young people the opportunity to produce a very high quality card design.
Everyone was able to choose designs from Disney characters, floral patterns or even create their own design. This design was then turned into something special by making a personally designed card for all occasions.
Virtual Cycling
Virtual Cycling tested the fitness and stamina of our local youngsters.
The young people who took part in this energetic workshop had a go at cycling on our static bike around the digital velodrome. The workshop ended with an exhausting cycling competition.
Circus Skills
Green Top Circus, a professional circus training organisation with experienced circus performers came into the City Learning Centre to offer a five day workshop.
The workshop sponsored by the Big Lottery Fund gave our young people the chance to learn the skills of being a circus performer and find out what it is really like to be part of a circus pleasing audiences all over the country.
The professional performers taught us how to plate spin, juggle and much more. The circus week ended with a Rawmarsh Circus Skills Display for family and friends on the final day.
DJ Workshop
Do you love to listen to music?
If the answer is yes then the D J Workshop could be for you. Come along and learn how to scratch and play music using DJ decks and professional equipment.
T-Shirt Design
T-Shirt design was great fun. We used the ICT resources centre and Adobe Photoshop software to create designs for our own T Shirts.
Remix Radio
Rawmarsh City Learning Centre now has it's very own professional radio station.
Remix Radio will be officially launched in September 2005. During the Summer holidays we held a two day radio presenter workshop which gave young people the opportunity to learn how to how to use the professional equipment, how to plan and write radio programmes and gave them the chance to present live over our Radio.
