Report 2
Hi All,
My goodness, what a day!!
Well, this morning we were leaving Meru, bright and early for our long journey back to Nairobi. We set off and this time took a different route back, passing lots of beautiful countryside.
We passed lots of areas where tea is grown, the tea plant looks like a privet hedge, and ladies pick the leaves while carrying big baskets on their backs, where they collect the leaves. We also passed lots of Paddy fields, where rice is grown. Rice grows from a plant that grows in water. To grow this, huge squares are made in a field, that are then kept covered in water, which are about as deep as ankle level, the ‘rice pickers’ when they have collected the rice from the underwater plants, then spread them on huge sheets in the sun to dry.
We arrived in Nairobi just after 1pm, and went to a beautiful Safari Lodge hotel for lunch, where we were met by four very special people who were looking forward to meeting us and excited about what we have been doing with the people from Nkoe, and the link between Ravenfield Primary School and Nkoe Primary School.
We had our lunch outside, at a table that we thought was set out for a Wedding, then we realised it was for us! It was lovely, we had a very different meal to what we had in Nkoe, more typical of this area.
After lunch we then went to our hotel, where we relaxed by the pool for an hour, before having our evening meal. Didn’t do much in the evening as we decided to have an hour’s sleep, at 6 o’clock, but didn’t wake up until 7 the next morning!!!
Love to y’all
