Facilities
Rawmarsh CLC is open and available to all schools in the area and is open 8am to 8pm Monday to Thursday, 8am to 4pm on Friday and 8am to 12pm on Saturday.
The CLC is a technically rich environment with a variety of rooms to meet all your educational needs and a range of IT equipment to support learning.
Rooms
Open Learning Centres 1, 2 and 3 are large rooms containing 30 computer stations and a SmartBoard interactive whiteboard. Open Learning centres 1,2 and 3 can each accomodate 30 learners. Open Learning Centre 4 is a room geared up for large collaborative group work. This room is focussed around a bank of tables to help facilitate group discussion. This is complimented by a SmartBoard interactive whiteboard to help tutor led instruction. 5 other computers are also available in this room to aid students that wish to use the internet for research. Again, this room can accommodate upto 30 learners
All the Open Learning Centre room PC's are equiped with a full suite of software suitable for most secondary and primary school subject teaching. Software includes Microsoft Office XP Professional (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Publisher), Macromedia Studio MX 2004 (Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks), Macromedia Contribute, Adobe Photoshop image editing software, Adobe Premiere Digital Video editing software and a range of bespoke educational programmes.
A7 is a newly refurbished multi purpose training room that is great for staff development and meetings. The room has 18 computers and access to another 20 laptop computers that can be used as an when necessary to add capacity to the existing desktop machines. This room also has a colour laserjet printer and access to 2 Interactive whiteboards and conferencing facilities including TV/DVD/Video facilities and access to refreshments. The room can accommodate upto 40 people and is specifically designed with split group work in mind by providing a Smartboard interactive whiteboard at both ends of the room and a variety of seating methods to suit any training / meeting.
The OLC Library contains 10 PCs, a wide range of reference materials and desks for non IT work. It has a big screen facility for TV/video screenings with space to accommodate rows of seating for the viewers.
Activate is a small room containing 6/8 laptops and an interactive whiteboard. It is ideal for work with small groups, up to a maximum of 8 people.
The Seminar Room has desks arranged to form one large table, an interactive PC screen and facilities to show TV/Video presentations. It can seat 10 - 15 people.
New! - Radio Studio
Rawmarsh CLC has its very own state of the art Radio Station, the facility includes professional industry standard radio equipment. Equipped to the highest standard the studio is capable of broadcasting live around the community.
Remix Radio, our weekly radio club, is currently broadcasting live over the campus and hopes to broadcasting over the internet from January 2006.
Pricing / Booking
Typically room hire is FREE to educational users, on a first come first served basis, in other cases room hire is reasonably priced at £20 per hour for the first hour and £5 for every hour thereafter. Refreshments are available on request and at a small charge per head.
