Showcommotion Easter 2005

The launch of Rawmarsh Showcommotion at Rawmarsh City Learning Centre was well received by the young people and parents alike. Showcommotion involved our young people learning dance routines to songs from pop and west end theatre. The routines were then put together into a performance for parents, carers and grandparents.

Enjoyed by all the Showcommotion was so successful that there will now be a weekly Showcommotion club at the CLC. The club will introduce young people to dance, music, performance and will give them the opportunity to make pop videos. The pop videos will then be entered into the National Boom TV competition with the opportunity to win a visit to the MTV studio.

Digital T-shirt design

T-Shirt Design Easter 2005

Using Adobe Photoshop software our young people were able to manipulate images and photographs to create their own T-shirt design. The designs were then printed on to individual T-shirts

Radio Presenter Workshops

The radio station at the City Learning Centre is now fully operational. The project has generated a great deal of interest amongst young people. The school improvement ICT advisers are keen to develop joint radio projects across all Rotherham schools, they are particularly keen to launch a Radio Soap Opera.

Real Radio - 106 to 108 fm

The official launch of the Remix Radio Station will be on Monday 13th June 2005. We have secured the support of the Yorkshire based professional radio station Real Radio. The editor visited the CLC in June 2005 to discuss the possibility of developing a training academy for young radio presenters. We are extremely excited about the radio project and feel it will create some wonderful opportunities for our young people.
