Launched in 2003, Nokia Shorts was the first competition of its kind aimed at encouraging the production of short films designed specifically to be played on mobile phones.
You don't have to have a track record in film-making. You don't even have to have made a film before. Nokia are looking for entries from everyone. If you've got a story to tell we'd love to hear from you.
This year will be the most exciting yet for film makers with a newly enhanced Handset Category and the winning classic Nokia Short being presented at this year's British Independent Film Awards.
Rawmarsh CLC in collaboration with C Media created 5 entries for this competition over the summer months.
Note: These files require Apple Quicktime to play, which is available for both Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X
Picture IT - Inspired Creativity
Update: Check out the Picture IT Image gallery
Over the last six months Rawmarsh CLC has involved over 80 young people in filmmaking activities. The projects have ranged from short animated pop videos to a live action comedy horror film.
The CLC has worked in partnership with C Media productions Ltd to introduce local young people to filmmaking projects at a professional level. The Picture IT - Inspired Creativity series of films has been funded by First Light, a UK Film Council initiative supported by the Lottery.
Young people aged 7 years to 19 years have been given the opportunity to learn all aspects of film production including script writing, story-boarding, filmmaking techniques, camera, sound, editing plus special effects make-up. The range of films produced has shown the creative skills of the young people involved and has given them the opportunity to be imaginative.
The filmmaking project was celebrated with a premier evening at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield as part of the Sheffield Young People's Film Festival. All three films from the Create IT project were showcased to the delight of the audience. The families and friends of the young filmmakers alongside representatives from Rotherham LEA and the Department for Education and Skills (Dfes) attended the evening.
